Michigan State football re-landed Andrew Dennis this spring and the former top player-recruiter is back at it.

Not only did Michigan State football lock down some positions of need during the spring transfer portal window, but it also got its top recruiter back.

With the re-addition of freshman offensive lineman Andrew Dennis, Michigan State gets better in the trenches and on the recruiting trail. Although technically a transfer, the incoming freshman spent spring ball with Illinois but decided to come back to his dream school before the season started.

During the highs and lows of the Mel Tucker era, Dennis originally committed early to the Spartans in the 2024 cycle prior to decommitting mid-season in 2023. Dennis was a vocal leader and foundational piece for the class before things went off the rails following the firing of former head coach Mel Tucker.

Now that Dennis is back in green and white, he appears to have resumed his position as MSU’s best ‘player-recruiter’.

Dennis is doing his best to help the program land transfer cornerback Kobee Minor from Indiana. It looks like he’s being recruited as a cornerback but the defensive back room needs plenty of help after the departure of starting safety Jaden Mangham.

During official visit season last summer, Dennis drove down to East Lansing on his own dime to spend time with the recruits who were completing their Michigan State official visits. With recruiting being the lifeblood of college football and a key indicator of future success, the former four-star offensive lineman understands the importance of attracting top talent to East Lansing.

As of late, head coach Jonathan Smith and his staff have been busy on the recruiting trail in both the portal and high school. After a flurry of departures in the spring window, Smith will look to add depth and turn up the heat for the 2025 recruiting class.

We’ve seen three high school commits in as many days and hopefully the aid of Dennis will help the staff lock down another piece for the defensive backfield.
