PHOENIX -- Super Bowl LVII is just two days away, and the Arizona Cardinals have yet to find their next head coach.
Five teams started their offseason with a vacancy: The Cardinals, Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers.
Now, to this point, just the Cardinals and Colts remain.
Time will tell if/when Arizona can actually find their guy, yet team owner Michael Bidwill isn't in a rush, according to AZCardinals.com.
"It's Super Bowl weekend and the entire NFL is focused on the Super Bowl. so we're going to pause throughout the rest of the weekend and get restarted on this on Monday morning," said Bidwill.
The Cardinals could potentially interview Philadelphia Eagles coordinators Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon, though those first interviews would have to wait until after the big game.
"We're excited about the great progress we have made. Every bit of advice as been 'take your time' and we have. I'm sure there are some frustrations with some of our fans, but we want to make the right decision, not the fastest decision."
The Cardinals hope to find the right guy to lead the team far away from their 4-13 record in 2022. Although a few have seemingly slipped through the cracks, two prime candidates in Lou Anarumo and Mike Kafka appear to be the top two finalists.
"In the history of all Super Bowls, there has never been a team that is doing a GM search, a coach search, and then hosting a Super Bowl just a few weeks later, so we've been really busy planning," said Bidwill. "Monti (Ossenfort) the new GM, has been fantastic. Everyone is working well together. You can already feel the new energy as he is restructuring things."
